The Future of Dodge and its History

Dodge cars were created in 1914 and began as the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. After this, the business became a branch of Chrysler, and it merged with Daimler Chrysler in 1998. Dodge was bought by a private company in 2007, and is now manufactured by Chrysler Holding LLC.

Dodge is most famous for its tough, handy, and diverse trucks. Dodge has produced a number of models, including the Dodge Caravan, the Dodge Caliber, the Dodge Dart, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Mini Ram Van, Dodge Nitro, Dodge Raider, Dodge Viper, Dodge Town Wagon and many more, some of which are no longer manufactured, and some which continue to sell well. Dodge has recently put out the Viper SRT 10, the Ram, and the Caliber, which are three great new models.

A two seated supercar with an FR layout was introduced in 1992--the Dodge Viper or the SRT 10. The Viper has become even more popular with its inclusion in video games, films, TV shows, and music videos.

The Dodge Ram was initially launched in 1981 and it was manufactured until 1998. But, Daimler Chrysler felt it would be wise to keep on making the large size pickup trucks, so they started building the model again. Motor Trend magazine has named the Ram Truck of the Year two times, which just adds to the prestige the truck already possesses. In 2009, Dodge plans to redesign the Ram.

One of the newest Dodge vehicles is the Caliber. It was introduced in 2006 and it was intended to take the place of the Neon. The Caliber is a compact car with 4WD and a 5 door hatchback body. The Caliber comes in several model packages, including th SE, SXT, R/t, and the SRT-4.

New models for 2007 include the Nitro and Avenger, with the Challenger arriving in 2008. The Nitro is a compact SUV that features four doors and four wheel drive. The Avenger was originally a mid sized car built between 1995-2000. Dodge plans to have a second generation Avenger, in 4 door sedan form, by 2008. Dodge has recently announced that they will be launching their third generation of Challengers. This vehicle will be a throwback to older designs, and will be a pony vehicle.
