Q: Would you go with a 2008 Ford Focus or a 2008 Dodge Caliber?
I am going to buy one of these cars, I just can not decide which one to get? Any advise? Does anyone have one of these cars? Thank You for your help!
A: Ugh, if you MUST, get the Focus. The revamped model is worth a look but remains an American POS.
Q: I am getting a 2008 Dodge Caliber. Should I get it in Stone White or Steel Blue Metallic? Which looks better?
Plus, I am getting the SXT, and I am trying to stay under $22,000. Also, is it worth the money to buy the 9 Boston Speaker System?
A: Steel Blue Metallic looks better, I think. Plus, it's probably alot easier to keep clean. (I was considering getting a Caliber awhile ago, and I loved the Steel Blue Metallic color)
As for the 9 Boston Speaker System, I would think that the standard sound system would put out plenty of sound, unless you really like to crank up the volume like extreeemely loud. Plus the Boston System is like $495, if I remember right.
Q: 2008 Dodge Caliber, what color do you like the best?
Taking votes on the best color.
A: blue
Q: What is the reliability of the 2008 Dodge Caliber AWD?
A: the world engine has been out for a few years before Chrysler started using them, along with the cvt trans. we have not seen any problems with the engine or trans yet. there have been minor problems here and there with electrical and interior stuff but nothing common or major. we have some of these in the 50 and 60,000 mile range and not seeing anything but regular maintenance. my only caution is regular oil changes with the right oil and approved trans fluid. the engine has variable valve timing and has filters for the oil coming into the cam phasers. it all relies on clean 5w20 oil to operate. the cvt trans has a metal chain inside that works like a snowmobile. it used a unique fluid that doesn't allow the chain to slip on the metal pulleys. topping it off with the wrong fluid will destroy the trans. i haven't seen this to Be a problem yet because there is no dipstick. oil change places and uninformed customers are less likely to put the wrong fluids in if the dipstick is not included.
Q: I am thinking about buying a 2008 Dodge Caliber, do you think it's a good car?
A: We rented one in Colorado last spring.
The good:
* engine and transmission (CVT) worked well in the mountains, even up through the Eisenhower tunnel.
* plenty of room inside
* fair handling
The bad:
* awful view out the car - dash too high
* poor fuel economy
* uncomfortable seats
Chrysler products we have owned: Dodge Grand Caravan (2), PT Cruiser Turbo, Neon, Jeep Liberty.
Loved the Neon and the Grand Caravan - did not like the Caliber at all.
Q: 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4?
I've had a 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 on order since Nov. 6th. At first it was delayed because of the 13 speaker, kick-ass sound system I selected as an option. That was resolved in December. I've done inventory searches on several Dodge dealers in the NY, NJ, MA, CN area and some dealers have them on their lot now. Why is my order still not complete? It has been "D" coded for several weeks, a VIN has been assigned but still no car. I think 3+ months is long enough to wait for a new car. Any ideas for what I can do? Who to contact?
A: you might get some help from this site ,it goes strait through to dodge and they will answer back on it,good luck,and i do agree that's way to long to wait for a new vehicle,http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.jsp?screenName=service&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm('R')
Q: 2008 Dodge Caliber?
Does anyone know when the 2008 Calibers will hit show rooms? I've been looking at getting a 2007 model but if the '08s will be better then I might hold off...
A: we are slowly getting 08 models in (1500s and sebrings). havent seen any yet. i would suspect in the next month...
Q: 2008 Dodge Caliber: Cost of fixing a flat?
I just bought a Dodge Caliber and I just had my first flat on one of the rear tires day after Hurricane Dolly hit. There was alot of debris on the road and well that how I got a flat to begin with. I went to a local tire shop and they informed it would cost $35 to fix one flat!!! Geeeee many Christmas!! I never paid that much to fix a flat. They told me since the Caliber has a air pressure monitoring system (which it does) they would have to reset it once the flat is fixed. But there is nothing to reset... The light goes on because of low pressure but as soon as I bring the tire up to 32lbs it turns off. I even contacted the Dodge dealership to see if they fix flats and they told me they don't and they referred me to the same place they are charging me $35 buck to fix a flat. Well I had the tire fix at the garage and forked over the $35 while laughing in disbelief. Exactly one week later.... I have the flat again! on the same tire!!! I have a good mind to go to the garage tomorrow and asked them to fix it right. I'm not going to pay another $35. Any suggestions? Can't I take it to a small flat fix place with a squinti-eyed guy named Smitty? :) Thanks..
A: $8-$15 for a patch here in Texas
Q: I want t buy 2008 Dodge Caliber SXT Sport?
I have a Chrysler discount and I don't know how much the car should cost. It needs to be an automatic. When I use the site http://www.dodge.ca/en/caliber/caliber_sxt_spt.html I get a MSRP of $19,090 minus $3,750 promotion which comes up to $15,340.
Now after I use the discount from Chrysler what price should I be looking for? Will I have problems if I would want to install sunroof, security, sound, and 6-disk mp3?
Thanks for reading and I hope that some one will be able to help me out because I don't want to get ripped-off.

A: I think you can only get the auto. transmission in the Sport by getting the R/T package. I don't think the SXT Sport has an available automatic. It is hard to quote prices without knowing credit history, etc. That is unless you are paying in cash. I would recommend these two sites that I have listed in my sources to get you in the ballpark of a good price. Also, don't install a sunroof in a car that was not equipped with one. First of all it's a pain in the ass to wire one up if you want an electric one. Second of all, if you do it yourself or get someone else to do it, it will probably leak. Getting a sunroof stock on a vehicle from the factory would be your best bet. Now the audio part of the equation should not be that bad. Just remember if you are going to go spend the money on speakers and a head unit (aka cd player), don't buy the OEM kind that comes from Chrysler. Buy an aftermarket brand. I have found that some of the greatest door speakers are Polk Audio brand. But that's just my opinion. Hope some part of my babbling helped you.
Good Luck!
Mike.
Q: Would you consider the 2008 Dodge Caliber a dudes car? I like those too. I can't afford anything bigger.?
I also rented one and it's a very solid car?
A: Calibers are VERY COOL! great for a guy or a girl!
Q: 2008 Dodge Caliber "Change Oil"?
I changed my oil and my "Change Oil" indicator is still on? How do I get it to turn off?
I changed it myself I also changed the filter and I checked the manual not there
A: A trick we use at the proving grounds is to shut-off the engine and leave the keys in the ignition with power still running to vehicle. Then press the gas pedal to the floor 4-5 times wait 10 sec and start the vehicle. This usually works but not allways, sometimes you just have to reset the battery to get the messages to go off.
I have a '08 Dodge Ram that i just changed the oil and filter myself and used the pedal trick and it went right off. But i also changed my moms Dodge Caravan at the sametime and had to reset the battery to get hers off. And by reseting i just mean disconecting the battery cables for a couple seconds then putting them back on and you should be good to go.
Q: I just bought a brand new 2008 Dodge Caliber and its already in the shop?
3 days after I purchased my car I was driving it and my brake light, ABS light, check engine light came on and my speedometer quit working. I took it to the dealership and they said they just had to reset it. About 45 mins later it started doing the same thing again. I took it back to the dealership and they had to keep it. They are saying they have to replace the ABS module. This is the second time it has been serviced for the same problem, my question is does this qualify as a lemon? By definition dealers only have one chance to fix the problem if it is serious enough to cause an accident or hurt someone. I believe my problem is that serious because if my brakes would have locked up I could have spun out and hit something or someone else.
A: the lemon law is 3 times for the same problem and it not being fixed after the third time.
Q: dodge caliber sound system?
What brand of speakers come factory in a 2007-2008 dodge caliber?
A: I think there is a trim version that comes with boston acoustics speakers. If you dont have one with boston acoustic speakers then it probably doesnt really have a brand, just factory speakers, which by the way suck.
Q: Outlet in Dodge Caliber?
I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber and was wondering what will work in the power outlet located in the center console? When I purchased it they said that I could use it to plug in a vaccuum to clean out my car, but I can't get one to work for more than a few seconds. I have tried a regular vaccuum and a handheld dirt devil. I also tried a hairdryer because that was one example that the salesman used, but it didn't stay on either. I took it to the service center and they said that there wasn't anything wrong with it, but I can't figure out what will work in it. Anything I put in will start up for a few seconds and then die out.
It doesn't matter if the car is on or just the battery is on, both have the same result and the owner's manual doesn't give much info on it. Anyone know what will work in the outlet or what the problem might be???
A: Not sure off the top of my head, but I would bet there is a wattage limit on that plug. Its really made for small electronics. A hair dryer uses way to many watts for that plug. If you keep that up you may start a fire in the wiring or do some other damage.

A: I think it is only used for charging and for a cigarette lighter. If you can't charge your cellphone with it, then something is wrong. The thing is that the outlet only puts out so much power and a hairdryer/vacuum uses constant power. For example, a cell phone charger only surges power, like a pulse, which I believe that's what the outlet was designed for. I don't think it was intended for constant power operation. I hope I have written this clear enough for you to understand where I am coming from.
