Q: How long is a 1972 Dodge Charger ?
I have a 1972 Dodge Charger, and i was wondering if anyone knows how long it is, like how many feet. I found a site that says something, but i don't think it's accurate.
A: 1971-1974 they where all 205”. For more information check out Allpar.com. the spec sheet is about 3/4 of the way down the page just below the 75-79 information.
Q: which car would win in a race? 1972 dodge charger or a honda civic pimped out?
i have a 1972 dodge charger and im restoring it right now, im putting a 440 in it , boring out the pistons, twin scoops on the hood, not sure what else yet, but its going to have atleast 600 hp when its rdy to race. but was wondering how it would do against a top of the line honda civic. also f you know the quartermile time my charger might do that would be great
A: The American Muscle powered Dodge Charger will easily beat the rice powered civic hands down.
Q: In a 1972 dodge charger 400 engine what would be a good compression reading?
A: The most important thing about compression readings are that they're all close to the same. You're best bet is to buy a manual for your car at the local auto parts store. They're generally in the $20 range and provide all the specs plus step by step procedures. Trying to tune or trouble shoot without a manual is like trying to find your keys in a dark room.
Q: Can i put a blower in my 1972 Dodge Charger?
I want to make my car like the one in the fast & the Furious, the one Vin Diesle drives toward the end of the movie. I want to make my car look bad ass and be able to back it up too. I'm thinking of putting a blower that pops out of the hood. What whould be a good one? ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME!!!
A: Yes you can put a weiand 6-71 blower on it 440 or 426 hemi would be the way to go.Make sure the vein to casing spacing is loose enough for a street application.I like the 440 better for street applications and the torque comes on faster better for a heavier street car.Try girdleing the mains for increased bottom end strength. Also I have had problems with oiling for the number 1 and 2 cylinders when running a windage tray.My motor put out 80 lbs oil pressure at an idle and 120lbs under full throttle so I shouldn't of had that problem.Build a 727 with a heavy duty clutch and band set and reverse manuel valve body the cheetah scs shifter is excellent but a bit pricey also if you can find a 727 from a motor home take the gearset they are the factory low ones and would cost you 400.00 or more to purchase from a performance parts house. Then choose your stall converter to work with your engine combo same goes for your rear gearing use a minimum 8 3/4 rear but a dana sixty would be better.Good luck and I hope you have cash to burn but it is fun.As an after thought for less money you can run a tunnel ram with 2 four barrels and have that motor out of the hood look you want and with a good engine build the power to back it up.Also I've found the tunnel ram works better than the six pack set up for less money.
Q: I have a 1972 Dodge Charger and i have back fire problems how can i fix the timing?
The dwell is at 50
And i checked it with a timing light and the line was way low
A: If you have points the dwell for a v8 is 28 to 30. If it is backfiring through the carb keep a fire extinguisher handy, I've seen 'em burn to the ground. Reset points to .016 gap on highest distributor cam, recheck dwell and reset timing with vacuum line of the distributor. If you have electronic ignition then you may have jump a timing chain.

Q: 1972 Dodge Charger in S.A., Tx?
My dad recently gave me his 1972 Dodge Charger. He's been sick so he wouldnt be able to work on it. I love this car and I want to help restore it for him. This is my first time restoring a car so I dont know where to start. The engine needs to be worked on and the interior and exterior need work also. In other words, the whole car needs to be overhauled. I've heard of some mechanics that could help me but I'm not sure who I could really go to. Any suggestions?
A: You would do well to see if there are any car clubs in your area. Especially look for Mopar clubs. They would know who and who not to deal with.
Q: where can I buy a 1967-1972 dodge charger, like the one on the Dukes of Hazard?
A: E-bay has quite a few Generals which pop up on a regular
basis. Be prepared to do some work on them !
Q: How can i make my '72 Dodge Charger faster?
I have a 1972 Dodge Charger with a 383. It has a Edelbrock Hi-Performance intake maifold. A Lunati Hi-Performance camshaft. With a stock carb. What whould be a good carberator? I wanna know what i can add to make it quicker car.
A: My gut feeling would be a Holley.
Q: what is a 1972 dodge charger in fair/good condition worth?
A: alot of it will depend on location and what the buyers and sellers consider fair condition. also a charger with a 318 in not worth near as much as one with a factory 440. if it looks decent with little or no rust and it runs and drives well anywhere from 1,000 to 2500 or so look one up on ebay and you can get a rough idea what they're bringing
Q: Will rims from a 1976 volare fit on a 1972 dodge charger?
A: too small a diameter
14 volare
15 charger
Q: what years are compatible with a 72 dodge charger?
i have a 1972 Dodge Charger and i know of some one selling a 73 charger as a project but will my charger and the other one be able to switch out the parts with each other?
A: just about everything on th 72-74 was interchangeable on those cars, there was very little difference in them,my brother in law has a 73 he bought new and we re-did some of it and it has some 74 parts on it,a lot of the parts on those work though, good luck.
Q: exhaust ?? 1972 dodge charger??
tomorrow im getting a new exhaust for my 72 charger should i have no mufflers and straight hidden side pipes or is there something better then that? (by that i mean something louder??
A: i own a repair shop, and believe it or not loud isn't all that cool to have on a car,a good Flo master exhaust system on one makes it run better and sound better, some of the fastest cars around are the sleepers ,these are called sleepers because they really don't sound that bad until you really get on it,and the they let go,but real loud, and no mufflers ,makes one sound like crap and it doesn't help you on power either,a good muffler system will help it to sound mean but strait pipes will only get you a really good ticket for improper equipment ,good luck i hope this helps.
Q: 1972 dodge charger headlights??
i was wondering if anyone could tell me where is the hidden headlights button is?? (you know the button to make the headlights hide or show)
A: It should open when you turn the lights on.

A: The basic "loop-style" bumpers are the same and the light assemblies should interchange with few if any modifications. Older Mopar part interchangeability is pretty good. Once you remove the plastic light bar, you'll find a very deep, sealed backpanel. the only major issue would be mounting stud locations and wire grommet locations. If there is any difference, it could be fixed with a drill and some silicone.
I liked the 71 lights better as well... Much more aggressive looking.
