Q: does anyone know where i can get a super charger for my 1973 dodge charger 318 motor?
please help does anyone know where i can get a super charger for my 1973 dodge charger????it has a 318 in it...
where do i get strocker kits also and do i need it if i want to put in a super charger???
A: Paxton automotive....but you do know that you are going to have to replace the components of your engine don't you? That engine is not going to be all that great if you leave it stock. I would put a stroker kit on it and forget it. Or if you aren't into the stroker kits then just rebuild it with good performance parts...top and bottom end.

Q: 1973 dodge charger?
I have a 73 dodge charger, it is having problems starting, it cranks but wont start, I tend to have to jump it to get it going and even then it sometimes wont work. If i put a little bit of gas into the carbarator it will start with a back fire and run. Once it is running it runs fine, however some times when I first step on the gas it feels like it wants to stall. What do you think the problem is and how much might it cost to fix? I have had the altanator rebuilt as well as a new battery in the car.
A: Propbably fuel pump, could have "leaking" valves in it - letting fuel leak back down, so that there is none in fuel line up to carb!
Bad fuelpump may work better when cold than when it is hot, weak fuel pump will support power up to a certian speed, and then act like it is "running out of gas"-- if you try to go faster, -- getting worse and worse till it stops working all- together!l
A electric fuel pump can be installed, which will push gas into carb and fill it without engine turning over, -- or possibly used as a "boost" in fuel line to push gas to mechanical pump so thart it goes up to carb!
The "stumbling" sensation is probably from "dirty fuel system", -- has it been sitting for some time without being driven?? You can do a lot with a pint of "Berrymasn B-12" (available at auto parts supply stores and wal-mart)! It will work better than the "cheap" fuel system/fuel injector stuff that you mix with gas! Maybe 2 cans in first tank full, -and one in second! This will clean out the tank and fuel lines as well as the carb, -- but it may plug fuel filters as "crud" is pumped out of system, -- so check a couple times to see how fuel filters are doing, - and don't be surprised if you get a lot of stuff there!

Q: helpppppppp dodge charger 1973 should i use headers?
MY MECHANIC SAID HEADERS ARE NOT GOOD FOR THE ENGINE WOULD U TELL ME WHY? AND WHAT DO I NEED FOR A GOOD BUT NOT EXPENSIVE ENGINE MAKE UP,I'M PLANING TO REPLACE CARB, WATER PUMP,TWIN AIR INTAKE,VALVE COVERS,ELECTRONIC IGNITION AND MUFFLERS AND WHAT ELSE? HELP ME PLS WITH LINKS WHERE CAN I BUY THE STUFF?
THE MOTOR IS 440
A: I suggest that you use ceramic coated headers. I have a set on one of my cars (custom headers not bought off the shelf) that are ceramic coated and they actually scavenge the heat very well. Headers will cause a little more noise.
Headers take more maintenance than stock exhaust but you can notice a difference in performance when matched up with proper exhaust pipes and mufflers.
A lot of MOPAR people are now using TTI headers. You can search for TTI headers using www.google.com
Don't commit a big mistake and use a big CFM carb with mechanical secondaries, like using a 850 cfm w/mechanical secondaries when it may only need something in the 700cfm range. Match the carb to your engines specifications, ie cubic inches and rpm level. There are some good carbs with high cfm that will work when they have vacuum operated secondaries.
Be sure you know the cfm capacity of your air cleaner and make sure it provides the cfm that your engine requires. A lot of people use air cleaners that do not provide the necessary air flow. I tried to use a K&N filter that was 14x3 on my new engine and on the dyno it started to starve for air. I did the math and proved that all I needed was the K&N filter top to provide enough air.
PS Don't listen to people that don't know about performance engines. You don't need a carb anywhere near to 800cfm, let alone a bigger one than that. My car had been on the dyno many times. I'm using a 820cfm carb on a small block that is able to deliver the 69 gallons per hour that my car burns when on the power band. That is WAY more than just about any car you see on the street will ever require. Bigger is not better contrary to what "wanabe" racers believe
Q: In 1973 did Dodge make a charger LE?
Or did they only make the SE?
A: In 1973, the Charger was available as a "Charger" and a "Charger SE". The SE (Special Edition) of course was the luxury model, but could be had with a 440. There was a "Charger Ralley" in '72, I'm not sure about the "Ralley" in '73 and '74, but if you go to "allpar.com" and click on Charger you will find a lot of information on the Charger models.

Q: 1973 Charger water pump belt?
I have a 73 dodge charger 400 cubic inch engine, The water pump broke (causing the fan to chew into the radiator) I replaced the water pump and fan (will be replacing the radiator this week) But the problem I am encountering is the belt for the water pump is lose, How do I go about tightening this?
A: Well without seeing the problem I would say you either didn't put everything back or like the other guy answered you loosen usually the bolts to the alternator or power steering pump and use a pry bar to tighten everything up.
Q: How much should I pay for this car?
I went to see it today, there is a good amount of rust near the bottom of the fenders, in the corners on the back of the outside of the trunk, and all inside the trunk. The dash is in awful shape, and the brakes need realigning. Realistically how much should this guy be asking for. I'd appreciate if you'd only answer if you know what you're talking about.

Q: CAn you remove opera style windows?
i have a 1973 dodge charger gunmetal grey with black interiour and black stripes my question is can you remove opera windows or replace them and if so how?
BTW its 350 hp and 385 ftlbs of torque
A: no.....you would need to redo the entire roof...I own a town car....and mine has something similar... even if you took out the glass and tried to put something in its place.... it would effect the strength of the roof structure....not to mention look ugly as hell
quick google search of your car shows the roof line.... i think the glass looks awesome....why bother
Q: What car is better?
What is better a 1973 dodge charger, 1970 ford maverick, or a 1977 chevy nova?
2006 and newer cars are pieces of shit. They dont make cars like they used to.
A: I'm a Ford boy, I would still have to say the '73 Charger. A beautiful work of art. The Maverick, still beautiful, don't get me wrong, is a nice "dare to be different" project (in a sence, that not many are restored, in my area at least), and the Nova, still a beautiful work of art, is just too damn common. I saw 2 today. It depends really what you're wanting out of it. If you're looking for something to throw money at and just make it go stupidly fast, Nova, I have a family friend that has one rated at over 900brake HP, to drive across town in it (about 20 km) it takes about a 1/4 tank. But on the track, its running 8's. If you looking for the classic, "you can't get any better then this" look, Charger all the way. If you wanting the "I don't follow the heard" approach, the Maverick would be a nice choice.
Q: good deal or not?
i found a 1973 dodge charger with 78,000 miles on it and the guy said everything works but i dont no if he is right all it will need is a paint job he said he wants a least 5,000$ do u think its worth it
A: As a MoPar nut, I would have to say "maybe"
There were several trim levels for the 73 Charger. So, with that in mind, do you know what engine is in it? It could have a 318, 360, 383, 400 or 440. Is it a column shift, or floor shift? I assume it is an automatic. Does it have the regular flat hood, or are there scallops? Are the tailights the flat horizontal bars, or is there an overlay with three circles on them? Does it have the flip up headlights? If so , do they work?
Characterisitcally, look for rust in the trunk pan on the sides. Also arount the back window - especially if it is a vinyl top car. Is it a vinyl top? If solook for any bubbles under the top. If you see coarse, bubbly patches, there is rust under the top.
Is the interior original? If it is, you might still have the build sheet for the car. I wouldnt hunt for it in front of the owner though. If you buy it, and its there, then score one for you. The build sheet is underneath the back seat. You have to remove the bottom seat cushion, and it will be either in the springs, or on the floor under the seat.
Old MoPars are becoming more and more collectible. I don't need to tell you that the 68-70 Charger are the most sought after. But the 71-74s are getting harder to find as well.
If it is a rust-free car, and it has a 383 or bigger, then $5k might be alright. If it is a 318 or 360 car, I wouldnt go over $3000 for a moderately good example, $4000 for a great one.
Send me a couple of pics if you like and I can give you a better idea.
Cheers, good luck
