Q: Will it be beneficial to install a cold air intake on my 1995 Dodge Neon?
I have a 1995 SOHC Dodge Neon with a 5 speed manual transmission. A friend recommended installing a cold air intake to boost MPG and performance. I looked under the hood and my air filter box is right against the firewall with the inhaler above the battery-they make the short RAM AIR intake system that will have the new filter hanging over a hot exhaust manifold sucking in hot air which is not what I want. The cold air intake is much longer and I don't know where it will go or if it will fit either. K&N makes their cold air intake with a heat shield but costs 250.00 which is more that what I have to spend. Has anyone successfully installed either of these and did it help at all with gas mileage? Did it fit? I drive for a living and currently on a good week get 30 in the city and 37 hiway-usually get 28 city and 34 hiway but if I could get more MPGs it would be great. I want to buy but I need to know if this will work.
A: the colder the air you take in to your engine the more efficiently it can ignite the air/gas mixture, but to be honest, i really don't see a cold air intake making that big of a difference let alone making a difference at all.
Q: Where is the EGR Valve located on a 1995 Dodge Neon and is it hard to replcace.?
I wanted to replcace my EGR valve and I am not sure where it is located on my 95 Dodge Neon. Is this hard to replace and do you have any tips on how to do it. Thank you
A: it is on the driver side of the head, and the tube runs to the intake. remove 2 tube bolts, connector, vacuum line, and 2 egr valve to head bolts and remove. it is straightforward, but not all that easy to get on the bolt, and some times the threads will pull out of the aluminum from the heat.
Q: In need A vacuum Line diagram for 1995 Dodge neon?
In need A vacuum Line diagram for 1995 Dodge neon DOHC. Its for PA and it shouldnt matter i just need the STOCK DOHC Vacuum line diagram.
A: look on the front of the vehicle it should have a sticker on it that shows the complete lay out of all the routing of the hoses, all cars have these on them,if not auto zone,s help site might have it,but its usually on the outside sticker and is clear enough and shows exactly how they go back on,good luck.
Q: How much is my 1995 dodge neon good conditions with only 115000 miles?
A: the most i ever seen one bring here lately was about 1800 bucks, and it was low mileage like that one for the year of it,and it was a one owner car,it will sell good its just that some people wont pay to much for an older car these days, good luck with it.
Q: Why don't the break lights or turn signals work on my 1995 Dodge Neon?
I got pulled over by a sheriff who said that my break lights weren't working and my turn signals aren't working either. The third break light on the trunk works fine. Sometimes my car starts and the gas guage, speedometer or odometer won't turn on, but 9 out of 10 times they do.
Is this a fuse? Wiring? Is this something I can fix myself, because that would be ideal.
A: Try the relay under the dash board of your car,the fuses,or the globes themselves, these are problems that a normal person can fix,if my little brother can do so can you.
Q: Air Filter location on a 1995 Dodge Neon?
Does anyone know where the air filter is on a 1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe?
Any answers will be appreciated -- a link to a pic would be even better :)
Thanks!
A: . The rectangular box high behind the engine with the large plastic hose commimg out to the engine is the Air Filter assembly. The way to change the filter is unsnap the clips on the corners . Loosen the hose clamp holding the plastic hose and remove the hose from the filter housing, and lift the top off the box and there is the filter element. Replace the filter replace the top and fasten the clips then reconnect the hose and tighten the clamp and you should be done
Q: I have a 1995 dodge neon that i want to part out due to a bad head gasket. Will a junkyard take the body?
And the frame of the car? will they come pick it up? I live in Bergen county Nj if anyone knows a place.
A: Sure they will. Scrap metal is big business these days...
Q: What are the chances that my valve head was bent when my timing belt went out on my 1995 Dodge Neon?
I have heard that some cars have a no fault system or something like that where when your timing belt goes out while driving your car your valve cover will not be bent. Is this true? If so is my car included?
A: I believe what you are referencing is a non-interference motor vs. an interference motor. In a non-interference motor, if the timing belt catastrophically fails (breaks), then the valves will not come in contact with the tops of the pistons. In an interference motor, the clearances are too small to allow enough room to keep the valves from hitting the pistons, and therefore bending the valves. Give me a minute or two to look up your motor and find out which it is,then i will update this answer.
*UPDATE*
The Neon 2.0L SOHC uses a rubber timing belt to drive the cam. The DOHC version of the 2.0L also uses a rubber timing belt to drive its twin cams. Both applications are "interference engines," which means there's not enough clearance between the valves and pistons if the timing belt breaks. The recommended replacement interval is 60,000 miles on 1995-1999 models, and 100,000 miles on 2000 and up models.
Q: How much will it cost to get a new timing belt for a 1995 Dodge Neon?
A: Your 2L engine is an interference engine, so change it before it breaks or it bends the valves. Also if you have 120,000 miles or something on it, replace the timing belt driven water pump too, because it's days might be numbered. Ask the tech about the tensioner pulley and whether to replace it too. Total cost at a dealer estimate: $680 for everything, or $500 just timing belt.
Q: 1995 dodge neon pressure build up in cooling system?
i have a 95 dodge neon and for the odd reason i was driving it 2nite and the pressure cap let off and im not sure why so i was wondering if any one could maybe give me a few tips on whut i might be able to do due to ive already put over 300 into this car thank you
A: you could just have a bad radiator cap on it,but those will do that also if a head gasket is blown on them,it releases more pressure in to the cooling system from the engine and that will cause a high build up of pressure, you might want to get that checked just to be sure that isn't it,if it is you will do damage to the engine if it isn't repaired ,good luck on it.
Q: What would win in a street race, both completely stock, a 1995 dodge neon or a 1995 Honda civic ex?
Both manual with same skilled drivers.
A: Sorry Honda fan-boi's, the neon would win. Hondas have no power and torque.
Q: 1995 Dodge Neon Transmission leak problem?
On my neon transmission, right by the transmission dipstick, is a sensor. Its completely round and made of plastic. How the hell do I get it out?? It spins but thats it, I tried pulling it straight out but no luck. HELP!!
A: After removing the two or three wire plug cap, a socket should just remove it, if it doesn't you might have to get creative with a channel lock or pliers, compare with the new switch first to make sure nothing is being overlooked.
Q: where is the location of the speed sensor of a 1995 dodge neon?
A: What a bunch of mistaken people!
It is located on the rear side of the transmission and you need the car in the air to get to it. From under the car looking forward it is the vertical sensor to the left of the Oil Pressure Sending Unit(which is a horizontal install).
Easy to change and known to go bad. NAPA has them cheaper than the dealer in most areas.

Q: i have a 1995 dodge neon that is missing?
i have a 1995 dodge neon just replace the coil pack and the spark plugs because there was a rough idle the spark plugs alone made a big difference for the past month now the spuddering is back im not sure if it would more likely be the plug wires the injectors or the fuel filter its a 5 speed and yes i know how to drive a standard sometimes when you take off it will start to lope and sound like its only hitting on 2 cylinders and only want to idle at about 300rpms until you slam on the gas then after a few seconds it takes off shut it off and it will start back normally after setting a few minutes then after you start to drive it about 2 or 3 blocks it starts it again ive rechecked the plugs they look normal just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if they have any adives, im not looking for some smart ass remark about the fact that i drive a neon either, thank you
A: Sounds like it could be a clogged fuel filter....change it..it doesn't cost much less than $10 ... you can do it yourself in most cars it is on the engine.. change it in less than 5 minutes.
Q: i have a 1995 dodge neon 4 dr. manual. how do you get the sidepaneling off inside to put in the side-speakers?
i broke off my driver's side window handle, along with the sidepanelling itself also. ive been told i need a new window regulator. i want to get my passenger side speakers in also, but dont want to tear my car all up. PLEASE HELP!
A: You need two tools for the panel removal. A door handle removal tool and a panel removal tool. Most parts stores will have these. You will also need to remove the screw from the door handle, its behind it, and remove the screw from the door pull. There are clips that hold the plastic on.
