Q: How do you flash the computer on 1996 dodge neon?
It was suggested to flash the computer on my 1996 dodge neon to try and start it firing again. (it overheated and now wont fire.) How do I flash it? I have changed the cam sensor, crank sensor & coil. Or any other suggestions Please advise, How to Flash computer.

A: a dealer has to flash the computer on it, reading the codes wont make it restart,you can read the codes with a scanner,but a dealer has to do re-flash on it,good luck.

A: Nothing is impossible but it certainly won't be easy. The Talon/Eclipse vehicles did not receive the 420A ( Mitsu's version of the Neon engine ) until 1995. All '93 Eclipse vehicles have Mitsubishi engines and control units.
Even if it was a newer Eclipse that used the Neon engine, it still wouldn't be a straight swap. The cylinder head was reversed on the Eclipse to route the exhaust ahead of the engine ( the Neon has the intake in front of the engine ).

A: The '96 model year could have either tank. The '95 and early 96 came with a steel tank and it held 12 gallons. The later '96 Neon up to the '99 came with the plastic tank and it held 10 gallons.

I paid $100 to "diagnose" it and $300 to fix it ($400 total). 2 weeks later it's blowing- hard- but not cold air. They quoted me $607 more. Is this reasonable?
A: no that's not right ,they should have been able to diagnose it and repair it right the first time,id take this one back to them and see if they wouldn't adjust the cost of repairing it some,they should have checked the system and known what was wrong with it before they ever tried to repair it,that was their mistake,unless a compressor went out on it during the time you was driving it they should be liable for repairing it,good luck.

A: well simply stating the obvious it is overheating this could be caused by a stuck thermostat...a faullty radiator cap....or simply because your fans arent running....either your fan is bad...or your cooling fan relay is bad...also possible but less likely is that your cts might be bad (coolant temperature sensor)...if that was the case in that car your computer should have caught it....try checking all your fuses first...then try powering your fan off the battery..if it runs then your fan is ok and you probably need a relay...very cheap and easy to change....if your car is still stalling then you might have other issues...dodge products are self diagnostic turn your key on and off three times..and your check engine light will flash in series...if you want a complete explanation of how that works send an email and i will tell you i dont really wanna type all of it if you are not interested

Oil leaks on my spark plugs.
A: Not hard at all, Disconnect you battery, then unhook the harness at the coil pack on top of the valve cover, take out the 6 bolts holding the valve cover on, lift it up and off. The new gasket will push into the groove on the underside of the valve cover. The set will come with the 4 gaskets for the spark plug wells.

A: if your replacing it with a stock one about 100 bucks for a real nice used one form a salvage yard,i just got done installing a real nice one from a salvage yard and it works excellent,there are plenty of those around also,if you go aftermarket one with a cd player in it,you can get those for under 200 bucks that will plug right in to the old wiring harness,and they sound really good, wal-mart has plenty of those ,good luck with it.

A: I couldn't even figure the distinction out back in 1995 when I bought one. LOL. I think it has to do with fabric coverings for the seats and maybe an upgraded radio for the highline.
Then again, there are two different wheel sizes the Neons came in... maybe that's where the difference is.

ok since your not giving me anymore details i would have to say between $200 and $300 for a regular paint job more if you want chrome allusion or any other fancy paint jobs. it could also be more depending on how much paint is already on it. if the paint is too thick you will have to pay the to sand it off and pay for metal etch primer, primer, paint and clear coat

A: As mentioned, you have two electrical pieces on the side of the throttle body casing. One is the TPS ( throttle position sensor ), the other being the IAC ( idle air control ) valve. The IAC is the one that has small cylindrical protrusion that sticks out inside the throttle body.
