Q: I own a red 2000 Dodge Neon. I bought it brand new but through the years I have noticed the back bumper fading
I have noticed through out the years everytime I see a red 2000 Dodge Neon every bumper has faded just like mine. Has anyone else noticed this or own one with this problem? I have only noticed it in the "Red" 2000 neons only.
A: yes i have seen a lot of them do this ,that's not the only color though that does it,the gray color they have also does this,and the blue,its in the paint they used on those cars,the older ones it was the gray that did it the worst,but on the newer ones its the reds,all you can do is have it re-painted back to match the car,any good body shop can do this ,they will charge around 300 just for the bumper though,that isn't too bad though considering the cost of paint these days,good luck with it.

I have a yr 2000 Dodge Neon. Its a 4 cylinder.
It also has a mist which makes the car shake a lot.

As a matter of fact, what could CAUSE this?
A: could be the coil pack may be going bad,a plug wire may be faulty,or just a bad plug.
I would check for a fouled plug or dead wire first,Then move to the coil .
If you still have no cure check engine cylinder compression to be sure they are sealing well all should be close to even with each other.You can check injectors with a tester to see if they are firing.
Have you changed your fuel filter ? if fuel pressure is restricted it may not get enough pressure across the line to feed cylinders correctly .

I am fixing my wife car, 2000 Dodge Neon, and I having trouble with the power steering belt. I can't seem to find the right bolt that I have to loosen so I can get the belt to fit. Please help.
A: You need to find the tensioner, it may be low on the engine

I pulled the interior light bulb above my head in my 2000 dodge neon. My car battery keeps dying though. The light stayed on because the back passenger door wouldnt shut completely and the light stayed on. I pulled it and the battery keeps dying. It can get jumped and run all day. Once the car doesnt get started for a certain amount of time it would need a jump. I was thinkin , alternator, possibly a new battery of course
A: Assuming the battery is good (go test it), pulling the bulb may not solve the complete problem. The problem is happening at the switch for the back door which is closing and sending out power. Maybe it also sends out power to something else (interior lights, exterior lights, dashboard warning, etc.)
Disconnect the switch... not the light bulb and see what happens.

I want to put a srt4 engine into my 2000 neon and make it quicker. will this be easy to do? what will it take? where can i find a cheap nice engine and trans?
A: yes you can do it but you need to change the mounts and part of the wiring harness,and the exhaust system,there's a lot to consider when doing this though,so make sure you have access to all the parts you need to do it with,other wise the job will go from simple to hard real fast,good luck.

A: There's room to play It all depends on how much result (hp increase) your looking for You can definitely improve your engine but You have to consider whether it be a little or a lot the labor and materials will run about the same so for this cost will you be happy with the amount you can increase while still being able to pass emissions There is also a computer chip that can be replace in your cars computer that controls the ignition and fuel injection that will help. again ask dilegent questions when at the auto store let hem know you want to keep it street legal often when people inquire about this they purchase equipment that make the car into a rocket ship but violates all emmission standards PS you can also run a more open exhaust (after the catalitic converter)

A: look in the owners manual it will tell what those abbreviations mean right off i don't recognize either one if them,they will be listed in the owners manual though,and what ever the fuse is for wont work on the car,good luck.

I have no idea what Dodge changed when they changed the "looks" of the neon. I found a GREAT price on a body kit, but it came off a 1996 neon. I dont know if it would fit a 2000 dodge neon. Can you help me out?
Please note, Doge neons can have body kits. Some, have so much money put into them, that they CAN outrun a Saleen mustang in a street race. (ie. my neon)

A: Lets see it would cost about $10 per window and 20 for the rear. Then $20 to get a kit to remove it because it was not put on right or started bubbling. Then $200 to got to a tint show to get it done right.
So save the money and aggravation and go to a tint shop.

A: This is not a job for a beginner. The transaxle (the transmission) needs to be removed from the vehicle to get to the clutch assembly, which is bolted to the flywheel at the back of the engine. Even if you have the skills, you need more than hand tools to complete the repair.
Try to find a garage that isn't too busy, and ask him if he can give a better rate if you leave him the car for several days so he can do it between other jobs.

A: With 150K on the clock on that car, its not wise to turbocharge or supercharge that motor unless you rebuild the engine with new high strength components. To answer your other question a turbocharger compresses the intake air via a turbine wheel that is driven from exhaust gasses. A supercharger compresses the intake air via a screw that is driven from the engines belt system. On the neon, your probably better off with a turbocharger. Check out www.modernperformance.com as they have turbocharger kits for the neons.

A: your best bet is the 100 or you can try from a pick in pull but no grantee it will seal since your taking it off the seal it already created and then trying to get the seal again might be tough.
