Q: how do you change the valve cover gasket on a 2001 dodge neon?
I have 2001 neon with a 4 cyl 2.0l engine manual trans that has an oil leak around the #2 sparkplug tube on the valve cover. is the gasket a good place to start looking and is it a DIY project. I have good mechinical knowledge and a fair amount of expereince.
A: on that one its real easy ,just mark the spark plug wires with a piece of tape and remove them ,then remove anything else in the way and then remove the nuts that hold it on,and it will come off,clean it real good before you install it and wipe around it really good so you,ll be able to tell if you have any more leaks,good luck ,if you take your time with it,you can do it ,and do a good job with it.

A: Go buy the AC recharge kit, read the instructions, and bamm AC is recharged.

A: It sounds as if you are loosing hydraulic pressure. The clutch master cylinder and slave is most likely your problem. Normally you would check them by looking for a leak or dampness around them. Your problem sounds as if it may be heat related. You may not have any external leaks. The master may be leaking internally. I always replace the master and slave as a set.
Q: How much would a new brake system, sans brake line and plus labor cost on a 2001 Dodge Neon?
The brake pads on a 2001 Dodge Neon were not replaced and caused damage to the brakes. I'm afraid of getting ripped off, so I'd like to know which parts of the brake system this would affect, how much they would cost to replace, plus labor.

A: Go to headlightwarehouse.com I buy from them all the time. I get brand new lights shipped to my door for less than what the local salvage yards want for a used light. It seems to be worse when my fuel is at or below a half of a tank and if the air conditioner is on.
A: you need to take it and have the computer scanned on it before you start spending a lot of money on it,that will at least give you a trouble code to work with and may save you some money on repairing it,you could have a fuel pump going out or something as simple as a fuel filter getting stopped up.it could also be in need of a tune up,winter time makes any car act up if its not tuned right,have it scanned first and make sure you don't have any sensors going bad that will cause that too happen,auto zone can scan it for free,that will be that much of it that you wont have to pay for,good luck with it.

My car is making this clanking noise like something is loose.When I go over a bump or a rough road you hear it.It sounds like something rattlles.I checked the wheels but dont see anything loose.What could it be possibly?
A: check the strut mounts on it and also check all the suspension bushings those would get some wear on them and cause the sway bar to make a rattling noise,it may also be a loose muffler hanger causing this you,ll probably have to put it on a lift to check the whole bottom out,its probably nothing serious but id still make sure all the suspension parts are in good shape,good luck.

Q: How to remove spark plugs from a 2001 Dodge Neon?
I cannot change the plugs as the holes for these are way too deep for any wrench, am I missing something here? My car shakes and the engine light now blinks and it runs loud, it sounds very loud and it seems like it's the plugs as they hadn't been changed.
A: you need to go to the parts store and buy a long reach spark plug socket,this way you can get the old ones out real good and also install the new ones without damaging them regular sockets wont hold on to them good enough to do this job with ,good luck

A: The best size for a 17 inch on an '01 Neon would be 205/40R17.
Two things you'll need to find out about those 7x17 rims first though are the wheel bolt pattern and the offset. Not all rims are the same.

Q: How do I take apart the dash in a 2001 Dodge Neon to install an aftermarker stereo?
A: the front trim piece just snaps off,and then there's a few screws to remove,and the radio will slide right out,be careful on the way out with it,and un-pug the antenna wire when you can get to it,those are really simple to get out,make sure it doesn't have any trim screws in the front piece of trim though,i don't think there is any,but those aren't hard to do,if you bought an adapter harness for the new radio it will plug right in to the original harness,and there wont be no wiring to do,good luck on it.
Q: How do I replace JUST THE GLASS of the driver's side mirror on a 2001 Dodge Neon? How do I access the "clips"?
The guy at the dealership said there are some clips holding the glass insert in that I need to release but the area around the glass is only like 1/4 inch wide and I can't see squat in there. How do I get in there? He said if I just start prying it out I'll break the whole mirror housing but I really don't want to pay them to do it if it's something simple.
A: if you tilt the mirror all the way to one direction you can get a scribe or a pic in there to pop the clips off one at a time untill you get two or three off then it will come off pretty easily.

I have a 2001 Dodge Neon and the radio quit. The equalizer lights are blinking so I'm assuming it's a blown fuse. When I went to check the fuse box under the hood the diagram doesn't have a slot for radio-15amp? Which Fuse do I change out? My Manual is gone....any help? would be great
A: Well most common rule of thumb when dealing with fuses is remembering that most features or devices that are inside any vehicle mostly use a fuse that would be located inside of the vehicle.
A few circuits may use even two fuses and have another fuse outside under the hood but for example your radio uses 2 12 volt circuits one is what we call the constant 12 volt feed that comes from the in side of vehicle fuse box and if that fuse feeding the radio was gone you've have no clock system and then the second 12 volt feed is called the switchable feed that comes from the ignition and the ignition uses a fuse that runs from the in car fuse box.
