A: If your serious, you'll go to your local public library and look up your vehicle in the Motors and Chiltons manuals. Ideally you need a professional shop manual from http://www.helminc.com which is expensive. You might also try a one time $10 subscription to an online source as below.

Q: How much should I pay for a 2" spacer lift for a 2003 dodge ram 1500 quad cab?
I'm getting a 2" spacer lift on my 2003 dodge ram 1500 quad cab and my local provider gave me a $450 estimate including the spacer kit and the installation.
Does this sound over priced or about right? Should I keep looking?
A: $450 isn't too bad with the install included. I know you're probably going with a body lift kit (spacers only) because it costs less; but just to put it out there, keep in mind that body lifts will hard a lot harder because the ride height is changed but the shocks remain the same and the length of travel is shortened, causing them to be stretched higher than they oringinally were. With stock shocks (if you still have them) it will be much, much more noticable. Stock shocks for our Dodge's are very poor and I don't recommend them to anyone, especially those with a lift of any kind. At any rate, the price sounds decent but you may want a 2-3" suspension lift in the future to increase the strength and ride of your truck's suspension compared to the body lift.
Q: Help installing whelen LED hideaway strobes in the headlight assembly on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
Has anybody installed the new Whelen LED hide-a-way strobes on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500? I have knowledge on the electrical side, but am lacking knowledge in the process of removing the actual headlights and taillights in order to drill the holes.
If anybody can provide any help it will be greatly appreciated.
-Thanks!
A: The process should be similar to what I had to do to put strobes in my 93 Ford Explorer.
I had to remove headlight assemblies from the grille so I could set them on my work bench to have the room to get a drill in there to drill the 1/2 inch hole in the side of the reflectors.
Still have to do the back strobes yet.
Look for approx 4 screws that hold the assembly in place & remove them. Don't touch the funny looking screws, those control your headlight aim.

Q: Which Kind of Gas is best for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a small V8?
I recently purchased the truck and I ordered a manuel but until then, Im left guessing. I am using regular unleaded but Im thinking I may need to bump up one? Any suggestions from Dodge ram owners?
A: all engines except the 5.7 burn 87, the 5.7 is 89. using anything but what is recommended does nothing for performance or mileage.
Q: 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 automatic door lock problem?
I have a 2003 dodge Ram 1500 quad cab (Hemi) with auto door locks. When I get in start the truck and put it into gear the doors automatically lock. When I begin to hit bumps, the doors automatically unlock. This unlocking continues repeatedly. This tends to happen more during warmer temperatures - happens less during winter, but it definitely seems to be aggravated by bumpy roads. Any help would be appreciated.
A: Well I think dodge man will help here but I have found that the ground strop on the battery doed this. I am not talking about the ground off the battery to the block, but the one coming from the battery to the frame.
Check this ground
Q: I have a 2003 Dodge Ram l500. It goes into automatic overdrive when I start the truck, How do I get It?
to not go into overdrive when I start? I would like to put it in when needed.
A: I can't be certain of which system was on the 2003 but there is either a button on the shifter or on the dash to turn off the overdrive. It might even be on the very end of the shifter if the shift lever is located on the column. On the dash it will have an OD symbol.
Hope that helps.....
Q: Why am I having trouble starting my 2003 Dodge Ram pick up?
About a month ago, the engine trouble light came on. Since then, I have to hold the key in the start position for several seconds (5 or 6) before it starts. This happens about 9 out of 10 times. Also, while driving, the engine quits running. I throw it into neutral and start the engine and it starts right away and I can continue on my way once shifting back to drive. This has happened about 6 times. What's going on?
A: Sounds to me as if there is a problem somewhere. I would suggest taking the vehicle to a reputable repair facility and having the problem diagnosed by a professional.
Q: How many gallons does a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT come with ?
I'm trying to figure out whether it is a 24 or 26 gallon truck but I'm unable to find out what size it is.
A: It's a 26 gallon tank and thats with the reserve added in there. Scroll down near the bottom of the page. The information will be in a grid box.
Q: Can I replace just the fog light bulb in my 2003 Dodge Ram? Or do I have to replace the entire fog light?
I've tried finding a bulb replacement online, but the only results I'm finding are for the whole fog light.
A: I have Silverstars in my Ram, but beware. They only last 6 months to a year. And they're kinda expensive. But they are very bright.
Q: On a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins HO the grid heater keeps on blowing fuses why?
I put in a circuit breaker and then it just kept on shorting out. I don't know what the problem is.
A: its probably shorting out against the block or the heater has gone bad, those do go bad sometimes, you might to check this real soon though it cant be used like that ,good luck and have a good new years.
Q: How to fix the Back up light on a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup - is it the light bulb or sensor for being in reverse?
My back up light indicator is out on my pick up and I would like to fix it. What is the best way to fix it? How do I check the bulb or access the light socket? Thanks for your help
A: Remove the rear lens and check for voltage, just be sure to block truck and apply emergency brake so you do not run over self. If voltage then change bulbs if both are out? If only one is out then most likely it is a bad bulb or a bad ground for that light socket. If not voltage when in reverse then it is backup light switch.
Q: How do you safely wash the motor of a 2003 Dodge Ram, without having electrical problems?
A clean engine runs cooler is there a safe way to wash a motor with that much electrical items under the hood?
A: Unless you have a layer of junk on the engine, cleaning it will not make a significant difference in cooling. A very small percentage of the heat that escapes from the engine comes from the block/heads, the vast majority comes from the radiator (with all that surface area), as is designed. If you just like to keep it clean anyway, better to use rags to clean it, not high pressured water/soap.
Q: hey i have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 and my check engine light turned on?
i install my OBD 2 system and it came up PO 441 which is Evap. system purge system performance..... can some one please tell me were to begin checking under the hood ?
A: check the hoses that connect to the canister purge tank those was bad to rot off right at the tank and cause that code to set,if that's not it start looking for loose vacuum lines or lines that will be collapsed or bad,any of then can set that code, but its usually the ones on the tank that set the code ,good luck.

I have checked the #39 fuse and it is intact. Is there something else I need to look for or do I need to replace the fan? Can anyone tell me how to check to see if the fan is no good? Thanks.
A: hit it with a hammer (lightly!). if the motor comes on then just replace the fan assy. we do about one every month....
and about $380 is the answer to your next question.
