Q: ON the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, which 4.7 (310hp or 235hp) do I get with the manual transmission?
Dodge has a new 310 horse power 4.7 in the 2008 Rams, but is it the same motor that comes with the 6 speed manual tranmission equipped trucks? For some reason, people are telling me that with the manual, you only get the older 235 horse power version of the 4.7. Are they right?

A: It depends on which cat-back system you put on, some have one muffler, some have two. look for the muffler you want, and then buy the whole system from that brand with that muffler. (flowmaster, dynomax, and magnaflow are some of the main brands). Also, add headers, they changes the tone a lot. Edelbrock makes a new set f headers, called TES headers. they are really nice and would really improve the sound/performance. High-flow cats are also an option.
Q: Will an OEM catback exhaust off of an 2008 Ram Sport for on a 2004 SLT Dodge Ram?

A: The new 6.7 will get about 15 mpg or so with normal driving. Mileage has been reduced somewhat over the previous 5.9 because of the additional emissions constrictions. These have a DPF (diesel particulate filter) basically a filter for the exhaust that has to be regenerated every so often by the engine. To do this the engine will fuel its self so as to run very high exhaust gas temperatures and burn off the particulates. They also have a diesel catalytic converter but these don't cause as much restriction as the DPF. Various other methods are used to ensure the emissions are kept low.
These engines also MUST run on ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel) which has a sulfur content of 15 ppm or less. The use of ULSD has resulted in some problems with these and older diesels as ULSD does not have the lubricity of LSD (low sulfur diesel which has a sulfur content of 500 ppm). ULSD does reduce emissions by about 90% over LSD when used with a regular diesel. When ULSD is used in the newer emissions compliant diesels the total emissions reduction climbs upwards of 98% for sulfur compounds and particulates (soot). To me that is a lot of trouble to go through to get that extra 8% but it does work!
A bonus that the 6.7 liter Cummins has over the 2007 emissions compliant Ford Powerstroke and Chevy Duramax is that the 6.7 already meets regulations for the next teir of emissions compliance in 2010! The other two diesels of the big 3 do not and would likely require urea injection to meet the standard, the Cummins will not.
I have a 5.9 Cummins in my 2007 Dodge. When running ULSD I am averaging 20 mpg hand calculated in stop and go traffic and will get about 21~22 driving 70~75 on a long trip. If you get it above about 2200 rpm the mileage will drop dramatically. The big 6 cylinder will turn that fast but it will cost you!
I know that the 6.7 has lower emissions but at the cost of lower mileage. I have often wondered what the real gains are in emissions since the average 6.7 gets around 15 mpg and the average 5.9 gets 18~20 mpg. The lower mileage engine is certain to put out more emissions because it is burning more fuel, but hopefully the DPF is taking care of the additional soot and the diesel CAT is taking care of the rest of the emissions.
In the end though the 6.7 is one of the best. It already meets 2010 emissions standards and even though its mileage is a little lower than a 5.9 it is still much more fuel efficient than the 6.4 twin turbo Powerstroke and the emissions compliant Duramax.

A: Yes the 2008 is a good truck. But if you can, wait for the new 2009, that thing is a sweet truck, the interior is redesigned, the truck is redesigned, and the engine has more power.

A: take it back to the dealer and have them program this part out of the system they can do that,then you wont have the horn blowing when you use the remote,those have a programmable remote that can be set to what the user wants,good luck.
Q: I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and just put a MOPAR Cold Air Intake System on, now my engine light is on?
My engine light is now on after installing the cold air intake. Just wondering if this was normal. The place I got it from had already close but I will call them first thing Monday morning. Also, on both ends of the silver tube, it had flat spots, is this normal?
A: You shouldn't have any check engine lights after the install. I would do a once over on the install and make sure all the hoses and connections are tight, make sure there are no loose wire connections, or wires you forgot to reconnect. The intake was made by mopar, it was designed to have the flat spots. Also chrysler/dodge vehicles do not use a map or maf sensor.
Q: what is the color code for a wire harness for a 2008 dodge ram, and what is the second small harness for?
It has 2 manufacture harneses one large and a smaller one but it has no navigation system.

A: the small plug would go to a handsfree module for uconnect. you need to get an installation kit, it will be easiest and you will have far fewer problems.

Q: I have a brand new 2008 dodge ram and both keys quit working today. why?
it started fine this mornin, it was parked ALL day, the battery is fully charged and now nothing happens when i turn the key. cant unlock or lock doors with key fob, and remote start doesnt work. i would call the dealer but they are closed so if anyone can answer b4 tomorrow please do, its drivin me nuts tryin to figure it out.
A: It's your immobilizer. Basically the electronic theft protection that prevents someone from starting your car unless they have the key with a chip in it that you have. Sometimes these chips crap out, and you just change the key. Sometimes it's your immobilizer itself, and then it's more expensive to replace. Since neither key will work, I'd say it's the immobilizer itself.
Q: what are some pros and cons to the 2008 dodge ram big horn edition?
i love fords but these trucks seem to have better prices as well as value right now does the 4.7 liter have enough power to carry that big body and i want to know about any kinks that have not been worked out
A: the 4.7 is alright its not power house though,but will carry that truck fairly well,those are nice trucks though just keep in mind that this is just a trim package that they come with ,that's what makes them a big horn edition,but they do look good,i wouldn't mind owning one of those myself,good luck with it.
Q: I just bought a 2008 Dodge Ram V8, 2 wheel drive. Can i pull a 5000lb, 27' travel trailer?
We asked the dealer, he said no problem. My friends say, as long as i have a V8. My truck manul says not with a 2 wheel drive, it would mess up my transmission. This spec sheet about towing, I got along with the truck says, it doesn't 'Recomend". So maybe? Help? Do I need to trade in already?
A: Whats your vehicles towing capacity if its 5000lbs or less then you cant but also keep in mind that 5000lbs trailer is 5000lbs unloaded. Add 40 gal of fresh water, clothes, dishes, etc etc your weight goes up considerably

well i got side swiped yesterday and my mirror on my passenger side cracked in four different places so i need to pick up another mirror but i was wondering if a 2008 dodge ram 1500 side view mirror would be able to bolt right up with the same bolt pattern, i have a 2002 dodge ram 1500.
A: since you own a 2002 dodge ram 1500 that was the first year of the change in body style so the mirrors would fit perfectly. as for the bolt pattern, just in case your worried about that it has the same bolt pattern as the 02. so yes it would fit perfectly. oh just in case remember there is a bolt on the left part of the door thats not covered by the interior mirror cover.

I had a remote start installed ,it runs 45 sec. dies and restarts in about 30 sec. runs 45 sec. dies. then restarts and dies, sometimes it keeps running ,sometimes no. any ideas
