A: A whole Lot!!! You sent an answer to the dodge dakota question. I looked at those sites and put it in the search and it is as if it doesn't exist. I ordered one in Nov, have been told they are on restriction. It is not buildable option on the Dodge site. I've always wanted a Viper, but I also want a quality product. I know I will save money on maint. by buying domestic, but will it require a lot of shop time? Long term reliability?
A: Understand one thing, all of these cars require maintenance and have to be taken to shops that work on those types of cars. There are more Dodge dealers than BMW, Porsche, and Ferrari dealers combined. The V-10 engine is also used in the Dodge pick-up and has a proven record. The concerns that smart E mentioned are the same for all of the super cars. His problem is that he knows somebody that knows somebody that may have had one of the cars he mentioned. I have a 2006 Viper coupe and it is by far the best high-performance car I have owned. I've had Corvettes, BMW's, Porsche, Maserati, and Lotus and this car simply out performs all of them. The insurance for any of these cars is the same. The workmanship is as good as the other cars I mentioned. It's a hand-built car for God's sake. If you want a rattle trap try the Shelby Cobras of the 1960's. Unfortunately, they have the stigma of being associated with Carrol Shelby and the owners have forked out 2, 3 and 4 hundred thousand dollars to own one. Carrol Shelby never turned a bolt on any of those. He goes where the money is and I put my name on that.
Don't hesitate on the Viper. Just be glad you had the opportunity to own one. They'll be the collector car of tomorrow.

However, when you go to build the convertible, you can choose between red and black, with silver and black stripes. What's up with that? And while i'm at it, can you get GPS in a viper?
A: Currently the only factory colors you can get are black and red but if you are paying 80K+ for a ride you may as well take it somewhere to get custom paint. What's a couple more thousand to get your ride looking the way you want it to. As for a GPS, you can get an after market Navigation system. I'm surprised and disappointed at the lack of factory options for the Viper. You'd think you could get pretty much whatever you want if you are paying that price for a car that doesn't perform any better than a few cars that are much cheaper (Corvette, Shelby Cobra). I still like my Dodges though, own a Charger myself.

A: Surprisingly(or not), I bought a 2006 ST10 Coupe with a sticker of $88,000 and the 2008 is about the same price. The first thing you negotiate off the sticker is the $3000 gas guzzler tax. It's a joke and most dealers will gladly do it just to get a $85,000 Dodge off their inventory. I'd like to trade but I think 510 hp is enough. However, I think with a little encouragement I'd trade. I just love toys.

I was reading, I believe a Car and Driver magazine. Valvoline advertised their conventional oils. On the picture, it shows a man putting Valvoline Conventional oil in a Dodge Viper.
I'm going to buy a Dodge Viper; fill with Valvoline conventional and sue when the Viper breaks down. I don't even think that their Synthetic oils are not Viper approved.
A: just advertising nothing else. vipers come with Mobil 1 synthetic from the factory, however any oil meeting the specified requirements from daimler chrysler work. generally most viper owners take their cars to viper specific shops or else a dealer for service.

i know there are places to rent your dream car, i want to rent a viper for my husband on our aniversary. i have tried searching online but have found nothign usefull. we live in cali in the central coast between pismo beach and santa barbara, anyone know somewhere close we can rent one? or maybe of a rental place that will deliver the car. please help i want tthis for him sooooooooo bad!
